In May 2014 Uma Gota No Oceano (A Drop In The Ocean) brought together actors, musicians and sportsmen to support the journey of the Brazilian indigenous peoples in defending their rights guaranteed in the Constitution. In six months more than 4 Million e-mails were sent to Congress calling for more respect towards the traditional indigenous peoples.

A seat of knowledge: The number of indigenous students in universities has been growing substantially. Between 2015 and 2016, the increase was 52.5%. At the University of Brasilia (UnB), there are currently 142 students of different ethnicities and 38 more were approved in the last university entrance exams.

The figures are from the National Institute of Studies and Educational Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep). They know they can and have to learn from us; we should have the wisdom to consider the same when it comes to them.
