The first meeting between Portuguese and indigenous Brazilians was peaceful, there was dance and church mass. This happened because there was respect between them. Respect is the key word. Who does not want to be respected? This is what the indigenous peoples of Brazil ask for. Like any citizen, the Indian wants to be heard before decisions are made that affect his life. Respect is good, and doesn't everyone like it?

This video was shot by Canadian documentarian Todd Southgate during the 2017 Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. The indigenous peoples were honored by the samba school Imperatriz Leopoldinense with the song "Xingu - O clamor que vem da floresta" (Xingu - The clamor that comes from the forest).
